Harlequin Jacket Kit Knitters, Winter 2006 designed by Jane Slicer-Smith
When I received the winter 2006 issue of Knitters I got as far as the second page.. you know where the contents is, and there was Jane Slicer-Smith's Harlequin Jacket.
It is a rare moment that I am totally inspired to knit something (having knit for sooooo long) that I couldn't believe my eyes. Not only was it a stunning design but it was in greens...my favorite colour.
I immediately started scanning the yarn bins to see what I could knit it in and of course my eye fell upon the many, many shades of Super 10 and try as I might to do it in another colour of course I chose the greens. So within moments of receiving the magazine I'm winding my yarn and casting on.
I have to say that although I had many doubts about the sizing and the fact that the fronts were wider than the back I kept knitting thinking that I had come to far to stop now.
All I can say is that Jane is a brilliant designer. This jacket fits me like it was custom designed for me. Everything just fell into place magically as I followed the pattern. Well done Jane and thanks!
